I was at first happpy with Gateway. I purchased my vehicle through this lot and had a couple of my service repairs done hear. But in 2007 I had to make an insurance claim. I was driving on the 101 and an 18 wheeler lost its mudd flap which came under my car and damage quite a bit of the electrical underneath the car. In addition the black plastice flap that covers and protects my radiator from rubbing on speed bumps was knocked loose. It took about 2 days, but my car was fixed. So, I thought. Now I realize I have been driving my car for 2 years, but I feel if the work had been done correctly in the first place I would not now have to pay out of pocket to fix further repairs. Here is what happened:
I picked up my vehicle everything from the front and at a glance underneath looked great. THe car ran fine again and I thought it was great. Well, I just ran over a speed bump, you know the wider ones in residential areas, well my front end scraped a little and I was not going fast. I had just backed out of a spot and was starting to move forward. When it scrapped I stopped to check the front and make sure all was still fine. Well the black plastice flap was on the ground again. I tried to push it up into place and found an ordianary hardware screw had been holding the flap in place this whole time. The screw came loose. I tried to tighten it back where it was in hopes it would hold until I could get home 9 miles away, to tools to really tighten it. It did not and now I have radiator fluid coming out of my radiator on to the ground and the screw s lost. I am in the process of working with my insurance company to get this fixed as it should have been done right in the first place. I hope that this can be fixed correctly now!
Lesson here make sure you closely inspect any work done on your car even if it is under an insurance claim!
