I purchased a 1997 Subaru Outback from Mr. Jeff Slavin on July 7, 04 with the agreement that he had made several repairs to the vehicle as we had agreed to. These repairs included both cam cover seals and covers, all four brake rotors, the transmission pan and seal, the water pump replaced and lastly replacing the timing belt.

I agreed to by the vehicle for $5,700.00 under the condition that all repairs be made. Within two days of picking up the vehicle and after the repairs "had been done" I noticed that was fluid leaking onto the ground from under the vehicle. I reported it to the seller and he scheduled a time that I could drive to his shop in Fleischmanns within the next couple of days. His mechanic, Clyde, supposedly fixed the leak but by the time I had driven back to Rhinebeck I noticed a leak again. I again scheduled a time with Mr. Slavin to drive to Fleischmanns to get the repair done the following week. The following week I drove to Fleischmanns to have the repair done but noticed by the end of the day that there was still a leak. Upon calling the Mr. Slavin he agreed to reimburse me for the costs of repairs, including having the timing belt replaced because it had been discovered that it was the wrong part, from a mechanic of my choice.

I scheduled an appointment at Ruge's Subaru in Rhinebeck, NY for July 19 to fix the cam seal leaks and the timing belt, the cost total came to $431.07.
Within a couple of days I had discovered that the cam covers were also leaking. Something Ruge's had not detected. I made another appointment at Ruge's for July 26 where they replaced the cam cover gasket for $278.99. This finally fixed the problems. I forwarded the invoices for a total of $710.06 to Mr. Slavin for reimbursement as we had agreed. Since I have called him about six times where he has promised to send the money to me but failed each time putting me into financial difficulty.

In August I moved to Eugene, Oregon for work and family and therefore cannot confront Mr. Slavin for the collection of the money. If I had known that I would have as much trouble with the car and Mr. Slavin I would have not bought the car.
