Default 1981 Chevy stepside 3 on the tree?

I have a 1981 chevy stepside, that used to have a column shift. I have it on the floor now, still three speed and I was wondering what I can do to make the backup lights work. I think the contact was on the column, but we switched the column out when I put it on the floor. any help would be great.
