Dodge Challenger 1971?

I use to own a1971 Dodge Challenger. I loved this car.In 1972 this car was setting on car lot in a small town where we lived at the time.We went into the dealership to see about buying a new car for me, The salesman asked me if I would like to see the Challenger, it was a year old and they could not sell it. When we went out to see it, we could see why. The Challenger was purple, dark purple,with the top white. The color was called Plum Purple.This was a new color for cars in the 70's. No one wanted it because of the color. The dealer gave me a good price on it if I bought it. So I did, I Kept that car until some one stoled it out of our driveway one weekend while we were gone., This was in 1988. I want another Challenger in good condition , know where I might find one?

I really feel for you. I'm sorry about your loss. My dad had a Chevy Impala that he brought to car shows. Someone bought it, with a check. Dad called the bank the check was good. Gives the guy the car for the check. Guy cancels check and skips town. Was not from the area and the address on check was not the correct one.

Anyway, have you checked on craigslist.com? You can find an amazing number of cars on there. Locally and nationally. That would be your best bet. Another place you could try would be autotrader.com. They still sell the mag at gas stations everywhere also.

Good luck in finding your car...BTW, I used to own a 1971 Barracuda. Plain Jane with only a 318 but it was cool. Had the 3spd stick and no power anything. Hell even the washer fluid had to be pumped with your foot. It was Winchester Gray Metallic (GA4).

Yeah. Just be patient. Dodge is coming back out with a retro looking Challenger this year (supposed to be mid year). It looks very similar to the 70's Challenger. Dodge is bringing this back to compete with the new Mustang, and new Camaro- due in '09. It's built on the Charger/ Chrysler 300 platform.
Try looking it up online. Car and Driver tested one a couple months back. I think the Dodge website shows them too.
If your a stickler for vintage metal, still wait, as the new car might drop the value of the originals, as people will soon be able just go out, and buy a Challenger.
Plum Crazy Purple was a awesome color. Don't know why no-one really liked it then.
