Should i buy my own used car for 1,000 or use my parents car to get me...

...through college? i have over 2,000 in the bank that ive been saving for the past four months that ive been working. Im about to start college.My problem is my parents have a car set aside for me that only needs 300-400 dollars worth of work to run. But i want to buy a used car for about 1000 and fix it up. Should i just drive my parents car to get me through college then buy a car like my mom suggests or buy my own car? I also have to pay for college if i cant financial aid

Use the car your parents have. The economy is so bad , you need to save as much as possible.

Use your parent's car through college. When you have a good job, you can get a nicer car. What good will the more expensive car do you if you can't afford college?
