Default Someone please help me make a car decision?

I need a new car soon. I found a 2000 Subaru Outback Limited Sedan for sale. It is in very nice condition but it has 128000 miles on it. This is the car my parents prefer me to have because it has AWD which is nice for where we live. It comes with a 3 year unlimited miles warranty. The other car I found is a 2001 Eclipse GS automatic with 54000 miles. I do not know how this car is in the snow but it is basically my dream car.

which of these cars would be better suited for a 16 year old boy? Which is the best with insurance, gas mileage, and reliability? The other thing is that we live close to the subaru which means we can see it more often but the eclipse is about 2 hours away. Both are at dealerships and both are asking $7000. What should I do?

THE OUTBACK!!!! That Eclipse is not far from the junk yard. The AWD is amazing, powerful, and makes a huge difference. I would also walk away, and let the dealer call you and chase you down, I'll bet you can get that Outback $6200-6500. Tell them you are still looking, but the 128,000 miles is a lot to consider, and you just want to do some more looking. See if they don't call you back by the end of the day.

I have no idea why any 16 year old boy would want to drive a Subaru Outback. I'm 16 and am getting a used Ford Mustang in a few months.

Subaru, man.
The eclipse, although very stylish, lacks two more doors and isnt exactly great in snow. For where you live, it seems like you'll never encounter problems with it. Had you live in a more temperate climate area, I'd say the Eclipse. But with snow in your proximity, I'd go with the Subaru

ALSO: Mitsubishi cars are the WORST for repairs.. for some reason their parts cost more to ship to the US as oppose to Honda or Toyota according to my mechanic. Keep that in mind as well..

I would go with the newer car that has less miles on it unless it looks like the previous owner didn't take good care of it. The Subaru has twice as much miles on it and is a year older, although it does come with a 3 year warranty. Does the Eclipse come with a warranty as well? I can see the riskiness with the Eclipse as it's a sports car, but it sounds like a better deal because of the mileage. Because you're young the insurance is going to be expensive regardless of the type of car. Good luck!

beware of early 2000s subarus. they have a history of blown head gaskets, also 7000 sounds to high for the amount of miles. i had a 2000 went thru 3 engines, dealer gave me 3000 on a trade in.

Stay away from the Eclipse. 1st of all, it will be way more to insure and they do not handle well in the snow. I know from experience.
The Suby has high miles, but would make a great 1st car.
