starting problems on a 96 chevy caviler. ?

i started my car this afternoon and it started just fine. i stop by the gas station and put in 20 for gas. after i was done pumping i started up my car and it only ran for about 3 seconds. i then restarted and it had a very hard time starting and a hard time staying running. i keep trying to restart and it would turn over but have a very rough idle and then just die. now it wont turn over at all. it just cranks.

its a 1996 Chevy Caviler. 2.2- 4 cyl, with 203k on it.
a week or so ago i was driving on the highway ( 65 mph ) i then got off on to a slower speed road ( 45 mph) when it started to idle rough.
after work it started up fine.

could the fuel pump be bad?
