I will never buy another American car. Does it matter?

From now on, I will only buy cars from countries that produce quality merchandise while paying reasonable wages. That leaves the American auto industry out. But, even if millions of other Americans do the same thing, so long as our politicians give our money to the industry anyway, will it matter?
