making a functional hood scoop?

i have made a hood scoop that looks like this (http://www.moparpowerclub.com/Steven_Ls_1969_Road_Runner_4406.jpg ) for my truck.
i have thought of makeing a brace to hold in and air filter or makeing a flap to keep the rain out. are any of those good ideas or is there any other tips
