I need help finding a good car for me?

I'd stick with GM also. If you don't think you can talk your friend out of one of the Corvairs, I'd look at something like a Chevy Nova, or maybe a Chevelle. If you don't mind 4 doors, you can usually find a nice one cheap, it's the 2 doors and converts that bring the high prices, so if you wouldn't mind a 4 door or maybe even a wagon (which are way cool if they have good paint and wheels) you can probably meet your dads expectations and your own.

I am going to be a new driver soon and I need some help finding a car that fits both my dad's standards and my own. He wants me to get a good quality car that gets good gas mileage and is affordable, but won't make insurance shoot him through the roof. I want a sporty car, but I also really want an old, antique car, b/c my friend has six '64 corvairs and i really like them. i need a safe, reliable car, but something that would definitly turn heads when I drive into the school parking lot I'm on a tight budget, so don't say something like a toyota supra or something like that. im not into trucks, either. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
