Default Trade car in but father doesn't want to sign off on car he bought for me Can I

still tade without him there?? I want to trade my car in that my father bought for me. But he will not sign of on it!! I explained to the car dealer ship that he bought it for me but its in his name. I of course make payments on it, etc, etc. Anyway the car dealer dude on the phone says hes not sure but he thinks he will need my father to come in. I asked him if I got all the information like S.S. etc. can I do it this way. Cause my father is stubborn and I would have better luck if he gave me the information and come in with it. My dads cool but very stubborn in other words he will give me his S.S. etc. Is there anyway I can trade my car in that my father signed and bought for me without having him there?? I can always say hes deceased...

The car is not in your name so you can't trade it. Having his SSN won't do anything for your situation. have you tried asking him nicely about why he doesn't want you to get rid of it? BTW....lying about him being dead won't work. You would need to have the title signed off by the executor of his estate and notarized.

You are trying to cheat the system here, and the system can't be cheated. The car is your dad's. The loan is your dad's. It doesn't matter where the payments came from, it was your dad's loan that was being paid off. You have no ownership or legal rights in this car. It is not your car to trade. Unless your dad signs a Power of Attorney that gives you the right to act in his behalf, you are out of luck -- and you have to be 18 even for this to work.
