Why no GM rear wheel drive 4 door sedans?

I have a 95 chevrolet caprice that has 307,000 on it and the motor just went(I drive my cars till they quit). Why is there no rear wheel drive sedans from GM. I just ended having to buy a 4 door chevy silverado pickup because it is the cheapest way to get a v8 rear wheel drive vehicle with seating for 6. Suvs cost too much. Where are they GM?

Well the design by nature is relatively inefficient (more parasitic loss via a larger drivetrain). Honestly, I am like you - I prefer rwd, but honestly, again - it's for the fun factor only. I would rather my wife have a fwd vehicle simply because they are safer and more efficient.

If you must have a rwd sedan, look at Dodge's Charger or Ford's Crown Vic, or just go used.
