What do I do with my car that doesnt run?

I bought a car about 3 years ago, it was an expensive car but last winter i slid on some ice and got in a bad wreck i was still able to drive it for a while after that but now its completely not working. and its not going to work , there really isnt anything i can get fixed its just really DEAD now, I know i need to go get a new car now which shouldnt be a problem because i have great credit but, I still owe like $5,000 on the car thats no longer working? so does this mean i have to now keep paying that payment and a new one for a new car? because no one will trade my non working car for a good car? i cant afford to pay two payments? does insurance cover this? what should i do?
