Default need help restoring old 83 monte carlo for my 16 year old boy....hope someone...

...can help with some experience? i,ve noticed a lot of signal levers for monte carlos say 1978 to 1988 on the model it will fit....i,ve found some that say 84 to 88 model year....is there a differance in shaft size or in the connecter or are they all the same
