help on a chevy silverado 4l80e transmission?

I'm working on a friend's truck it setting the code p0758 the truck is a 97 silverado with a 5.7 v8 and 4l80e transmission 4x4. I replace the solenoid since it was only 14 bucks and beside I had to take the pan off the transmission to see if the solenoids were working.
Right now I got the check engine light on and the transmission is in safe mode. With the scan tool I can command the 1-2, 2-3, and the tcc solenoids on/off and they click on and off but the code comes on and stays on after the reset.
He went into a ditch, loss control, a long time ago about 7 months and he had to park the truck because the frame was bent. He move it around the block every week or so, and after a month had pass the check engine light came on.
Since the solenoids click when commanded by the scan tool I'm assuming there is no short or open in the harness otherwise the relay would not work right. Has anybody has come across this problem???
