Default 2004 Monte Carlo SS engine fit into 1998 Pontiac GTP?

Will a 2004 Monte Carlo SS 3.8 supercharge engine drop into a 98 Pontiac GTP? Are the electronic (wiring harness) connections the same?
Reason I am asking this question is that I have a 98 Pontiac GTP with a blown engine. Car is in great shape until the engine went out. I found the Monte Carlo SS at the local junk yard. It was in a recent rearend collision that totalled the car. My friend said he can get it for me at a good deal. Also said it will fit right into my car. I think I will run into some problems with the switch.

It should fit but I think its not a good choice. You can get a newer Grand Prix with the same 3.8 supercharged engine without having to do a motor swap. Or better yet trade the Grand Prix for the new 08 G8 GT. Those are a hell of a lot better. Powerful V8 engine, Rear wheel Drive, 6 speed. Man you can't go wrong.
