Can anyone give me tips on how to sell my car?

I own a 2002 Ford Taurus and I am totally upside-down. I owe about $8k and the trade-in is $3500 and private party value is $5600. The condition is good, offers some nice after-market features, and has average mileage (74k). I have looked on CraigsList at similar cars and they are priced between $3000-$5000.
What would you do?
