The Malibu is considerably less reliable than any Toyota. Consumer Reports' annual 2008 survey says the Malibu has higher than normal problems in the areas of suspension, brakes, power equipment, and body integrity. If you decide to buy either car, have it inspected by a mechanic before you buy.

You can not compare any American Car with Toyota and Honda.
Having said that Malibu Maxx is a good car.

No.
"CR" lists it as a used car to avoid. Unreliable, many costly repairs.

Go to a book stand- but a Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide. The most it can cost is $10. It lists repair rates and reliability tests on most cars.
You can buy a good car for the same price as a bad one.
Get informed.

EDIT: For everyone's info--Toyota, Nissan and Honda are American made.
