Default Which heads are best, 60's 289 heads or present stock heads?

I am converting my 1987 Ford Crown Vic (5.0, FI) to a carb with 7.5 high-rise. It is currently FI, but I am intalling a 650 Holly and high-rise for a project street car. I've read that the heads currently installed on this 5.0 are also used in trucks?? I also have a set of 1960's heads from a Mustang 289. Which is best to use with carb?

They are both boat anchors, but the 5.0 heads are the least offensive of the two. GT-40P heads are decent, but they may require specific headers for the re-located plugs. E7TE Mustang heads aren't too bad either. GT40X heads are EXCELLENT heads!!
A 600 cfm Holley (List no. 1850) or an Edelbrock 600 (pn 1405) will work fine, even with a mild performance cam. Can't go wrong with a vacuum secondary.

If you decide to use the 289 heads, you will need a pushrod for a 289 or early 302, the 87 heads have a shorter pushrod.
