Clearing engine codes?

Clearing engine codes?

If you have a service engine soon light and find out the code and then what needs to get fixed, gets fixed, and when the computer is reset, the light stays off from 2 days to 2 weeks and then pops back on...does this mean that it is the same problem if the same code comes up or now something different?
