Is it true that the Toyota Prius are on backorder all over the country?

I am about to start searching for a Prius, I was just told, it is impossible to get one. I find that hard to believe. If you live on the east coast, and managed to score a Prius, let me know. Also, did you have to pay more now that the hype is up with gas prices rising? Thank you.
