IS there any legal way to get my money back from a car purchase?

I bought an impounded Mercury Cougar 2000 a week ago, How ever it failed Smog. Now I have this car with me as a garbage. I admit I must have been too stupid to buy this car from these people. It is my mistake. But is there any Legal or other way that I can get my money back. How would I do this?

Did you buy it from a private seller or from a dealer? If you bought it from a dealer, depending on the state you are in, you might have some recourse under Lemon Laws.

If you bought it from a private seller, the burden of investigation is on you the buyer.

Since you say you bought it from an impound, then I have a feeling the burden is still on you, the buyer. Did you sign a contract as part of the purchase? Look at it and see what it says.

When it comes to buying used cars, unless you purchase from a used car dealership, the laws do tend to favor the seller and the burden is on the buyer to conduct their due dilligence with regard to checking out the car and the mechanicals, etc.
