I Own a '03 Pontiac Bonneville, why is the check gas cap light on? The cap is on and

tight was never loose. Have done the 3 click thing with the gas cap and have had some people tell me not to worry about it, it will go off on it's own. I don't want to do that and have something else happen to my car because this problem was not addressed. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to fix this problem?

its probably nothing, but get it checked out...it could mean theres a leak.
