Good First Car?

Okay, im totally obsessed with cars and stuff. I am turning sixteen in about two years, but i want to start saving money to get a car. I have a job now, and some of the money is going in savings. I will continue working just to save up. My dad said that he is giving me his 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, but im not too pysched about it. I really really really want a Jeep Wrangler with a soft-top that is automatic. Would this be a good first car for me? I know the lancer would, but its too..dinky. LOL! I want a jeep so bad but im just not sure if that would be suitable. Also, wherever i would be working would not be that far away. Do they get good mileage? Also, is the soft top a pain in the butt? Any jeep owners and lovers, could you please help me? And one more thing--If i got the lancer and traded it in for a jeep but paid the rest of it off, would that be good or should i just tell him i would rather buy my own car? I mean, the lancer is free but jeeps are awesome. Best Answer will be given
