Default what gas tank is swappable in a 1964 4dr chevy impala?

I need a gas tank for a 1964 chevy impala 4dr. the problem is I can't find an original. Can someone suggest a chevy tank that will work.

If my memory serves me right (& I May be wrong) I think the '62 through '66 Impala had the same body style, so I would look for one of those models.

Another Idea, measure the size of the tank, and go to a junk yard (oops rexyling center) and find one from any other car that will be that size or a little smaller.

You might also wrap the old one in fiberglass and see if that will repair it.

Don't mess around with something used for a car this old. You will only have problems in the long run. Fix it right or don't fix it at all.

Go to Year One and search for item JX8. A new fuel tank will cost you about $240. If you select Impala and search for Fuel Tank, it will also return additional items you may need like tank straps and fuel lines.

By the way, the previous person got it wrong. 1961 - 1964 Impalas used the same fuel tank. One from a 1965 or 1966 won't fit.

according to hollander 1961-1964 chevrolet fuel tank is the same. hope this helps
