Good first car?

Ive found a 2000 toyota celica GTS that has 189,000km on it and is selling for 7,900$ canadian. The pictures of it look pretty good, shows the car as being pretty mint but then again they are just pictures taken to make the car look good. Anyway i was wondering if this was a good first car and if you could please list some pros and cons to this car, thanks.

too many miles...for 4000 Canadian get it but with that many kms expect repairs

while the mileage does seem low for the year the price still seem a bit high for a car that is nearing 9 years old

it seems like you could do better in the range of at least 2002-2005

as fas as the car itself i have owned a lot of cars but never a celica so i cant give first hand info
but the look of the car is sleek and a lot can be done with the design
