1998 Chevrolet Cavalier?

My cavalier has been having a problem with jerking and going dead when I am at a stop sign or just when I stop. Can you tell me what is causing the problem and how I can fix it.

well i would say that either your alternator is bad or you have a wire problem most the time alternators are about $120-200 brand new idk about a re-man but that what it sounds like or if its manual shift is might be your clutch i had the same problem with a 96 ford ranger it was the wireing
