What is a good tuner car under ($5,000)?

Im looking for a good tuner, whats a good car that has some power in it and a few after market parts and something that isnt really ugly.

Ive taken a look into the Nissan 240sx and the honda hatchback but i have no clue on what i should look for in a tuner.

Get a Honda and tune it for great gas mileage. That would be more impressive than more power.
