Default CarMax will buy my car...how does this work?

I am wanting to sell my car, and have seen ads by CarMax for a while now- they promise to buy someone's car even if they don't buy one of theirs (they'll buy mine, even if I don't buy one from their lot).
The Kelly Blue Book "private party" value of my car is $7785 (I've considered the mileage, condition of car, etcetera) and the "trade-in" value is around 5k. SO...Will they actually buy my car? And, if so- what can I expect??
