How do i reset my on board diagostics for my 2001 gmc sonoma it won't pass...

...inspection? My truck sat out of service for 1 year and now it is back up and running but i am having troulbe getting it inspected In NY State. I don't have an owner's manual. I was told to drive city and highway i have done that, and it still reads not ready on these two Catayst and Evaporative system. I have all ready had my 10 day extention. I have put over 400 miles on it and it still is not ready. It also said to check owner's manual OBD/Readiness driving procedure. HELPPPP

What you can try doing is bringing it to the dealer and tell them what you are experiencing. I believe that they can run an integrity test on the EVAP system and on the converters. If the tests pass then that may trigger the OBD/readiness tests to pass. You can then get your sticker at the dealer if you wish.

Note... if you clear the codes or reset the battery, then you will have to restart this whole process over because the inspection machine software will detect this and immediately fail your vehicle.
