Where to find a 1949 VIN plate on Chevy truck?

I have a '49 chevy truck and wanting to get a salvage title for it. Thing is i have looked all over and can not find the VIN plate anywhere! Where do I locate it?? Any help on this would be much apperciated!!!

It was on the door jamb, on the driver's side.

Moswt generally the were located on the firewall. But look inthe door jams. Someone may have taken it complety out of the truck. Then a title is almost impossible to get.
