my cars stuck in second gear?

so i have a manual tranny on my car. i went to the store one day and when i got out and started my car i found that i could not get it in reverse and that the only gear that worked was second. that stick itself moves around freely and i can drive it at tops speed of 35 at 3000 rpms. when i press the clutch it does go all the way down and the car does come out of gear. and when i let go of it, it is still in second gear.
Its a Mazda 626 w/ turbo and i think it has a hydrolic transmission.

Chances are the transmission is shot.
Good news is that being a stick shift its probably gonna be a little cheaper and easier to replace or rebuild. Bad news is its still gonna be kind of expensive.
Take it to a mechanic that knows his stuff and that you can trust. Never know, it could just be something minor. You might luck out.
