06 Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission issue- transmission fluid leak? Hi,
Just bought an 06 Jeep GC Laredo with 56k miles on it. Got it from used car dealership in CT so comes with 60 day safety/mechanical warranty. On day two of owning it, there was slight bucking at very low speeds (coming out of parking garage). Later on that day on the highway, the car wouldnt go above 40 mph and was staying btw 4000 and 5000 rpms and the "malfunction" light came on and stayed on. I brought it back to the dealership and they told me the "transmission connector" got disconnected and caused a transmission fluid leak. They said the leak put the car into "limp mode" which is why it was behaving the way it did. According to them (and the invoice they gave me) they replaced the "transmission connector" and added more fluid. The car seems to be running fine now but my question is- should I be concerned about the overall quality of this transmission/ car? Is this normal for a car with this many miles? Should I bring it back and demand my money back while I still can? The car was one owner off-lease when I got it- clear CarFax report and everything. I was planning on getting an extended powertrain warranty on it anyway. If anyone has a good suggestion for a reliable warranty company I would appreciate that too! I'm the first Jeep owner in my family so I don't have much to go off of and am just praying I didnt buy a lemon! |
