Default Engine maybe overheating ?

I just found out that I might need to have my coolant bleed out. since i just got a new engine is that something that the mechanic should have done? Is he obligated to do this at no additional cost? I just paid $4k for this engine. How can I tell if the termostat is not working properly. Do they install a new one when they replace the engine. What parts should be replaced when replacing the engine. Again it the 2002 chrysler sebring conv.
