Default 2009 rx8 r3 won't rev past 8k?? ?

Ok I just bought a 2009 rx8 r3. I know it's not the best idea put I wanted to see what it could do really quick so I decided to wined it out. What I noticed is that once I hit 7k it hasitates and It won't rev past like 8k or so. What could this be? And it is not the auto it's the 6 speed.
