Stuck in the Middle Ages is on a distinguished road
Default Scion xB question--What would cause it to start but not respond to any gears?

I have a 2006 Scion xB with about 62,000 miles. Yesterday, I filled her up, and when I restarted her, she started smoothly like usual. Nevertheless, there seemed to be no response when I pressed the accelerator. I tried changing gears (manual transmission) and still no response. I turned off the car, restarted it, and everything was back to normal.

Does anyone know what might have been happening?

Thanks for your responses.
