should I buy a 2008 mercury mariner V6 with 88,000 miles?

Engine:3.0L V-6cyl Transmission:4-Speed Automatic for $12,000 to use to drive in the snow to Northern Michigan from Central Ohio. Also, I can purchase a 1 yr only warranty powertrain for $1500
