Vortec heads vs cam swap? I have a 1985 camaro iroc z, with the l69 305 engine, now i have a limited budget for now, so i have to choose between a cam or a vortec head swap... i already have L30 vortec heads out of a 1997 305 chevy truck (they have the same ports as the 350 heads, only smaller valves and 58cc chambers)... im rebuilding the motor right now and would like to do either on before i put it back into the car...
the question is which will give me more of an improvement in horsepower? the vortec heads with the stock cam and an aftermarket intake manifold? or a cam with the stock 416 casting heads? i have seen dyno tests on a LG4 gain around 40hp on a stock one, so the gain wont be as huge on an l69, but the cam i had in mind was a summit 1103 cam. which would be the better $150 spent?
thank you! |
