Are audi dependable and reliable?help?

i am about to buy a 1998 Audi A4 Quatrro 1.8t 5-speed Black but the only thing is that it need the oil pump replaced, i researched and the opinions are up and down , im askin will i always be at the shop or not and is it tryue that audi's break down all the time
