Default What kind of gas mileage could I expect from a 3.0 2WD Ford Ranger?

Just the automatic king cab model BTW. Not the 5-speed. I currently drive a 1995 2wd Ranger with the 2.3l and I average 22 mpg highway if I drive with an egg shell under my foot. I know the 4.0's are gas hogs, but how do the 3.0's compare to their 4 cylinder counterparts? Total miles per tank would be helpful as well. Thanks.
