black smoke coming out of tail pipe of a 1987 cadillac fleetwood?

when my wheels are turned to the left or right and i step on the gas pedal to go the car struggles and dies SOMETIMES. when this is happing there is either black smoke or sometimes white smoke coming out of the tail pipe i need to know how to fix this so i am able to pass emissions to continue driving this faboulous car for years to come...- someone pls help me

Black smoke indicates fuel is too rich. White smoke indicates coolant leaking into the oil, possible bad headgasket.
