2oo1 impreza 2.5RS for first manual car?

Im an experienced automatic driver in NJ. Driven 96 6cyl wrangler for first car, and now driving 03 liberty renegade 3.7 liter V6 that makes 210 horsepower. i like the liberty but i want something smaller and more gas effienct, gonna keep that for long trips. i really like the subaru impreza 2.5 or wrx (looking to buy something STOCK & well maintained high miles okay) but im a little worried the wrx will be to much for a first time manual driver? im not worried about the insurance, already got the quote its like 1000 a year cause im a married female and dont drive like an idiot. (non nj drivers, thats NOT ALOT for north nj) im a pretty confident, defensive driver. honestly im bored with the auto and really think manual is an important skill i must master. any thoughts are aprreciated. thanks.
