Default As for dependability, are Scions good cars?

I have a 2001 Kia Rio that I bought for less than $9k. It has over 130k miles on it and never had any problems with it. Could I expect the same from a Scion? Could I hop in it when it gets to 75k miles and drive from Miami to Portland without having to change the water pump, head gasket.....? In short, will a Scion last?
My coworker has a Kia Rio with 210k miles. My Ford died at 83k miles.
My cousin's GM and Dodge trucks never made it past 75K miles.
My ex in-laws have 3 Kias. All of which are much older and have many many more miles than mine. Also no problems with them. I just want a little nicer car so I am considering a Toyota or Scion.

Scions are VERY dependable! They are made by Toyota who is #1 right now in car manufacturing. As long as you keep up with the regular scheduled maintenance you shouldn't have any problems. I also am surprised your Kia has made it this long.

Wow the person above is making me laugh. Are you serious? Scions are very very dependable. Japenese cars are the best. And on top of that Toyota is the most reliable cars out there on the streets right now. Toyota makes Scion. So if I were you, I would go for it. They are very very nice cars.

You got real lucky with that KIA. I have never heard of one lasting even half that long. Don't push your luck on the Scion. Being Japaneses it will let you down and be very costly when it does.
