what is wrong with my car?

i got a 1984 non-turbo 944 a couple months ago.i figured out my alternator was bad the hard way.i have been charging my car every night for a while.but i was driving and it just died one day.I am positive it wasn't because of my dead battery.i tried to start it up but it would just keep rolling over and not starting.The oil gauge stays at 0 when i turn electricity on.i tried pressing on the gas,push starting it.nothing worked so i had to get it towed home.is it my spark plugs?I didn't know the car could die while i was driving it from bad spark plugs.and how do i get to them to replace them if it is.
