"Griding" noise when shifting from 4th to 5th? (2004 Cavalier)? I'm looking at a 2004 Cavalier which I test drove yesterday. The car is in great shape and everything seems good, except for something I noticed while shifting. Going from 4th to 5th, I hear a "grinding" noise. It seems to be annoying more than anything else, because once I am in 5th, the noise is gone, and it doesn't seem to create any abnormal resistance when shifting. It is also lessened by easing into 5th, as opposed to quickly shifting.
Is this something that I should be concerned about or deter me from buying the car? I know that you can't know 100% what is wrong with it without actually seeing/hearing it, but if you had to take a guess... How much are we talking to fix this? Is it something that should cause me to not buy the car? Thanks.
Just so you know, I meant "Grinding", not "Griding". typo. |
