Perfect 'first car'???

I'm in high school and I am just starting to consider what car would be good for me. I'm middle class so I'm obviously not going for anything fancy. I was thinking about a Honda Accord because they seem to be safe, not very expensive, and good gas mileage. But I am open to other suggestions. I don't want anything totally ridiculous but it MUST have good gas mileage.
