Hello. I have a question for any good Dodge car knowledgable people that... ...are friendly and helpful.? Okay, hopefully everyone of my answers received will be friendly helpful ones. I do see a lot of smartalecs on here a good bit and that is unfortunate.
I am working on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid.
More like restoring it. It has a V6 2.7 L engine. I know that is a super good engine. Just kidding. I have been reading all sorts of information on this awful flawed engine. This car was given to me. Free. At first, after all the research I read about this engine, I was bound and determined not to attempt to do anything with this car. But after awhile it began to grow on me and now I do want to get it running. I want all suggestions from owner experiences with this vehicle, any ideas from car mechanics, especially Dodge dealership mechanics perhaps. I have checked around on prices of remanufactured engines, preferably a Jasper engine, but that is out of my budget. $3800, plus $200 for hose and belt kit, engine oils, filters, etc misc. items.
I am kinda po. Not too po, though. LOL. I am on a kinda tight budget. I am a single dad. My son is 12 years old. So lots of bills here and there. The car I have now is an inherited granny car. A 98 Ford Taurus with 215,000 miles. Still running good. Pretty reliable, but do not know how long, so that is another reason to get the Intrepid going. For a spare. Or more like get the Intrepid going. Drive it. Restore the Taurus in my spare time and when money comes along. |
