1986 LX mustang good deal or bad deal??? and 5.0 swap?

Hello I need some advise. I'm thinking about getting a 1986 LX notch mustang with a 4 cylinder engine and man. trans for a trade for 2 rare guitars of mine which total to be about $900. The body is very nice no rust he said just needs new front bumper and he also said the interior is just dirty no rips. However the engine and trans is bad and will have to be replaced. So here's my problem is my dad said it's a junk parts car and not worth it and I think it's a nice car as I am a big mustang fan. So let me know If you think it's a good deal or bad deal? Also If I was to get this could I put the newer 87 to 93 front end and If so how hard would that be and also how hard is it to put a 5.0 in these things? All advise and answers will be helpful. thanks.
