How many miles does a IS 250 hold up till?
Is the maintenance expensive on these cars?
I want to get one in 3 weeks and i wanted to know if i bought one with 40,000 miles on it is that to many miles?
Are they good cars what would be better a IS 250 or a bmw 3 series?
Does the IS250 brake down often?

Saturn SL2 says it's overheating?

I have a 2000 Saturn SL2 with a 4 cylinder DOHC that is having some cooling issues. A couple of weeks ago the coolant lamp turned on; I didn't think much of it, because the car didn't overheat at all and it ran fine. Today, I started my car to go to work. As soon as I started my car the temperature gauge shot all the way to hot. I repeated this process a few times when diagnosing the car, and every time, when I start the car, instantaneously the temperature gauge goes straight to hot, even if the car is cold as a coors light.
I figuired it was most likely the engine coolant temperature sensor. I replaced it. The temperature gauge when starts still goes right away to hot, which has to be a false read, because its 40 degrees here. and when I first put the sensor in, it couldn't have been much warmer.
If it were the thermostat, wouldn't it be a gradual raise of temperature because the water in the engine still needed to be heated up, instead of a instantaneous hot reading?
The coolant level is fine. I inspected the hoses, and they appear good. not crimped. Also the water pump is not leaking. The serp. belt needs to be replaced, but the water pump is still turning, and if it were the water pump; wouldn't it be again a gradual raise in temperature after the car had been sitting in the cold for so long?
The coolant fans are not turning on, even after the car idles for 10-15 minutes. I collect that the fans should turn on immediately, given that the car thinks it's burning up from the get-go. Tomorrow I will jump the fan motors, and try to solve that problem.
There is a check-engine light on, it has been on for some time. This is also something I will check tomorrow. The car still performs very well, and this is the only problem it has had while I have been driving it.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS could it be possible that it is bad wiring? What circuit would it be on? I wrench on cars, but I am not an electrically inclined mechanic, If anyone thinks it is wiring related, please give me some pointers. Thanks!

But why do Japanese & Korean cars last for a real long time, where's our cars quality is somewhere in between, leaning to the European side. I'm wondering whether this is a business decision on the Europeans part to encourage more folks to buy their cars more often or what! I still think the Europeans can & should build cars @ least as good as the Asian car makers,Right!?

I'm 17 and i want to buy a car to last me until i'm done school probably 5-6 years. I've got currently $11,000 for a car and i make roughly $7,500 a year that can be put towards the car. I turn 18 soon and could start financing with a car with a cosignature. I want either a Mustang, Challenger or Camaro. Pretty much a car where everyday is a Saturday. If I go new I can probably only afford the base model for each car. Money will be tight and all my money will be going to payments. They'll make it work at the dealership, but after gas and insurance, what will be the point. I'll be just a guy with a nice car broke as h*ll with no gf.
OR
I could just get a >05 used Mustang GT probably borrow a little money from my parents buy it out right and won't have to worry about interest and no burden for the next 5 plus years. Just have to pay off my parents like 5K.

Whats more realistic. I love the Challenger but whats the point of puttinng all your money into something and only having one small thing for show.

Dorr Locking Fuse keeps going out immeditly on 99 tahoe help!!?

Hey, on my chevrolet tahoe in the fuse box inside the car, the doorlocking fuse blows immediatly the second I put a new one in. WHATS GOING ON! My door locks wont work, and the only way to get them to work is to get this fuse to not blow. Again as soon as the fuse touches it blows, I went through like 20 fuses trying to get it to work.

Really odd. I always thought it was a battery problem, but everything works fine. Power everything works...lights are bright. But I used to charge it anyway...would take a while but it would start. However, one day I didn't have anything to jump with and it just started after 15 minutes.

So now i'm not bothering with the fake charge thing. I go out early in the morning...it wont start, come back in 5 minute incriments and it starts eventually. WTF?

does anyone have a good idea of what is going on with this piece? it's a 2005 Saturn Ion2.

Thanks!
