1993 BMW E36 engine problems?

I have a 1993 BMW E36 in the shop right now, and i was just told that i blew the engine the other day on the autobahn. they said that they cant fix it, but would probably have to replace the engine. anyone have any ideas how much that would cost?
they said it would be a rebuilt engine they would put in there, which is fine, as long as it runs again. any ideas anyone? thanks

Thanks

How different or difficult will it be to maintain a car of this kind?

Which one is a good buy and please substantiate your answer.
If you don't know what substantiate means, please do not answer.

The current run flat tires make for a horrible and loud ride. Current ones are Bridgestone Potenza 225 45R17 91V Steel Belted Radials.

Anyone else replaced entirely with go flats and what do you recommend?

I have a 325i (e46) 04. The car has 68k miles and I never changed the shocks ever since I first bought it brand new. The ride comfort is not the same as before. Seems like thr front right shock is gone because everytime I go into a little pothole there's a funny little noise and I also feel it on the steering wheel.

What I'm asking is, does anyone know any comfortable stock shock absorbers? Brand names w.e.

Thnx abunch
